Portable power stations come with different battery capacities, typically measured in watt-hours (Wh), which indicate how much power they can store (You’ll find some sellers using Ah or mAh. Ah or mAh usually refers to the capacity of an individual cell or a group of battery cells.).

Common battery types include lithium-ion and lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4), the latter of which offers longer lifecycles and better stability. The energy density of lithium ternary is 210-250Wh/kg, which is higher than that of lithium iron phosphate, which is 110-160Wh/kg. High energy density means that the same capacity can be achieved with a smaller volume or weight, but the safety is not as good as that of lithium iron phosphate.

The cycle life of lithium ternary is usually 500 deep cycles to 80% capacity, while the cycle life of lithium iron phosphate is usually 2000-3000 deep cycles to 80% capacity. The temperature and humidity of the environment also affect the life of the battery. Generally, the cycle life is based on life at 25 degrees ambient temperature. Higher or lower temperatures also have an impact on the life of the battery. The current market for portable power station usually has an operating temperature of around 0-40/45 degrees.

Power Output:

The output capacity is crucial as it determines the types of devices and appliances that can be powered. There are two kinds of AC cables on the market, one is a wire (two-way inverter), this is AC-AC, and the other is to add an adapter, this is more bulky (one-way inverter), this is AC-DC, but the conversion efficiency is a little lower, the charging time is a little longer, but more stable. Some manufacturers will build the adapter into the portable energy storage products, so it is also a wire charging, but actually still AC-DC. The charging time for AC charging is different for different companies. The charging time of 2-3 hours is more acceptable. Fast charging is usually around 1.5 hours. Pay attention to the charging time advertised by each company. Is it the time to charge to 80% or 100%? The time to charge to 80% is relatively fast, but from 80% to 100% is slower. It may be about 1/3 of the total charging time. Some companies can charge AC+DC at the same time. If the charging power has been improved, the charging time can be shortened. If the total charging power is the same, the total charging time is the same. The charging power of the solar panel is usually between 100W-800W. It varies from product to product and from model to model. The wattage of the solar folding pack is usually 200W maximum. If you want to reach 400W or 800W, you need to use several folding packs in series or parallel.
